Hurricane Helene

In September 2024, Hurricane Helene caused widespread flooding and devastation in Western North Carolina, with long-lasting economic and structural effects. SECU Foundation quickly responded with a $3.75 million disaster relief package, followed by an additional $1.75 million and $3.45 million packages for ongoing efforts, benefiting 12 non-profits.

  • $3.45 million: Phase 3 funding for Baptists on Mission, Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry, Inc., Note in the Pocket, Mountain Projects, Hospitality House of Northwest North Carolina, Rutherford Housing Partnership, and Crossnore Communities for Children
  • $1.75 million: Phase 2 funding for Baptists on Mission, Salvation Army of the Carolinas, MANNA FoodBank
  • $3.75 million: Phase 1 funding for Feeding the Carolinas, The Salvation Army of the Carolinas, Baptists on Mission, Red Cross North Carolina, and Meals on Wheels North Carolina
